Background: Hearing is necessary to learn languages and speech develop cognitive skills. Unfortunately, many children with severe hearing loss from birth are not diagnosed until 21/2-3 years. of age. Implementing high-risk neonatal screening, detecting before 3 months, intervention 6 months will result in a better performance neonates.

Methods: Detailed history taking general ear, nose throat (ENT) examination were done rule out external ear middle pathology. Brainstem evoked response audiometry (BERA) was dust-free, sound-proof, airconditioned room. Feed given 10–15 min the procedure. Brain stem evoked response audiometry A Review

Brain stem evoked response audiometry (BERA) is a useful objective assessement of hearing. Major advantage of this procedure is its ability to test even infants in whom conventional audiometry may not be useful. This investigation can be used as a screening test for deafness in high risk infants. Early diagnosis and rehabilitation will reduce disability in these children. This article attempts ...

Brain stem evoked response audiometry of former drug users.

UNLABELLED Illicit drugs are known for their deleterious effects upon the central nervous system and more specifically for how they adversely affect hearing. OBJECTIVE This study aims to analyze and compare the hearing complaints and the results of brainstem evoked response audiometry (BERA) of former drug user support group goers. METHODS This is a cross-sectional non-experimental descript...

hearing status in neonatal hyperbilirubinemia by auditory brain stem evoked response and transient evoked otoacoustic emission

hyperbilirubinemia at neonatal period is one of the major deteriorating factors of the auditory system. if left untreated, it may cause certain cerebral damage. this study aims to evaluate the impact of hyperbilirubinemia on the hearing of neonate. this study was conducted on 35 newborn babies with jaundice (bilirubin more than 20 mg/dl). auditory brainstem response (abr) and transient evoked o...

Brainstem Electric Response Audiometry (BERA)in the Evaluation of Hearing Loss in Infants with Cleft Palate

It has been estimated that one child in 500 to 750 live births is born with a cleft palate (Rood & Stool, 1981). A high incidence of middle ear pathology is known to be associated with this problem (Bluestone, 1971). It is generally accepted that this population suffers from Eustachian tube dysfunction which leads in turn to the development of middle ear effusions and conductive hearing loss. T...
